New Year, Same Old Me.

Wasn’t really feeling like much of a happy new year last night or today, just laying low to start the year. But then took a ride in the Miata and for the first time in about 2 years was actually asked about the car at a red light. Feels good, man, and thank you, kind stranger. The guy was considering purchasing one of 2 NA6s (the earlier 1.6 liter version of the NA Miata). One with AC, one without. Wants a hard top, but I thought I did too at one point. Now it’s top-down life. Not sure now what I was ever thinking.

The Blog Going Forward

Anyway, the blog’s been pretty quiet and inactive for the past few months as I’ve been very busy at work in my job photographing art events. There are still some 2018 automotive images I’d still like to share in the coming week or so. One about some of the sights from a recent trip to Miami and another with shots from the Sebring Classic 12.

Project Miata’s Current Status

The last time I left off in the middle of a rebuild of all of the droopy AC vents. They are no longer droopy, but forcing them out led to them being difficult to put back together. They’ll need to be glued back together (the piece of the vent face that surrounds the vent, in particular).

The two rear brake calipers that I scrounged off of a totaled Miata are still sitting in my garage, waiting for installation. This week, however, I’ve got them up off of the floor and cleaned them up a little, placing them in the trunk for safer, cleaner keeping.

Still haven’t installed the new Bluetooth stereo. Would really like to get that done before I go back to work, but we’ll see.

Current Plans for the Year

Aside from that, I don’t have a lot planned. I’d really like to make it to the 12 Hours of Sebring this year, because they’re having an FIA WEC “Sebring 1000” race on the same weekend, but I’m still not sure I’ll be able to afford to go. Not sure on Amelia this year either, because of the travel cost. Might not cover as many events this year, but I am wanting to write more. Maybe more local things, more Miata-specific things.

All in all, I think it’s going to be a good year. Can’t wait to get started.
